Upon arrival in March, it turns out that Quinta do Arneiro is actually a working farm that runs a small food shop and an organic restaurant. We arrived for brunch, and the restaurant was filled with other patrons – all Portuguese.
Honeysuckle on the nose is balanced with a taste of fresh pineapple and fruit salad on the palate. A food-friendly wine with character.

We were seated in the main dining room, which, by the way, is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely one of the most beautiful restaurants that I have eaten at in Portugal (or here elsewhere!). It has a farm chic feel with the most stunning green tiled kitchen in the background!

The whites range from Portuguese varieties normally found in the area, such as Arinto and Fernão Pires, as well as Verdelho and Viosinho, to international varieties including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier.
Vieira bought Quinta do Gradil 16 years ago, and like many quintas within striking distance of Lisbon, it has a colorful history. The quinta belonged to the Marques por Pombal (famous for rebuilding Lisbon after the great earthquake of 1755), which he supposedly purchased for a mistress.

The three-course dinner was served with impressive precision—waiters marching out almost as a drill team, bringing plates to each table in turn.
